Overview

The J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation is a private, family foundation, committed to the vision of a world-class education that prepares Idaho citizens for the 21st century and beyond.

To move toward our vision, the Foundation invests pro-actively in large-scale initiatives. Our current three initiatives are 1) Postsecondary Success: “High School is Not Enough”; 2) Education Choice: “Find the Right Fit”; and 3) Continuous Improvement: “You Should Know.”

Each of these initiative areas was chosen for its crucial role in preparing Idaho students to compete in the 21st century economy and workplace.

There are several projects associated with these initiatives, and you will find overviews of each one here on our web site by clicking here. Here are a few I would like to bring to your attention:

The ID21 Project
We believe that now, while we are in the midst of a recession and the road ahead is uncharted, Idaho citizens have an opportunity to dialogue about what we would like education to look like in our state when better economic times return. With this in mind, we created a project to take advantage of this our citizens’ heightened interest in building a world-class education system in Idaho. It’s called the ID21 Project, and the first activity associated with this new project is The ED SESSIONS—a series of three forums featuring inspiring, fresh voices on the topic of 21st century learning. Read more about it by clicking here.

Go On Idaho
The Go On Idaho Project is our strategy to help prepare more Idahoans for 21st century skills by building a culture in Idaho schools that supports students to get education and training after high school. Go On Idaho has helped to build awareness in Idaho that high school is not enough and that there are proven ways to set Idaho students up for success beyond graduation. Idaho Education Resource Guide
Then finally, we would like to invite you to check out our most recent version of the Idaho Education Resource—our quarterly tabloid newspaper with tools, tips, and resources for Idahoans interested in improving education. The interactive version is available by clicking here, and our Spanish translation of this edition will be available soon also.

Please browse our new web site. We will be adding content to the site in the days ahead. Our goal is to keep it simple, concise, and informative. And while you are here, please sign up for our newsletters to receive occasional Foundation updates and bi-weekly education grant sightings—click here.
