Advice For Your High School Student From University Enrollment Manager

When you get to college, it’s better to be too prepared than not prepared enough. girl in library

Take several courses in math, science, social studies, four years of English, and a foreign language. I recommend you also get involved in sports, student government, or some other kind of team activity. Succeeding in college takes good study habits and self-discipline. You can develop both with a rigorous program in high school, and you’ll be prepared for any major you choose.

  • Fight the urge to take the easy path.
  • Take honors, AP, and Advanced courses to prepare you for the academic rigor of college and help prepare you to score well on SAT and ACT Tests.
  • Consider dual credit.
  • Hang out with students who study hard - support groups are important.
  • Visit high schools and college fairs throughout the Northwest.
  • Schedule a visit to a university campus.
  • Keep all college communication regarding admissions and financial aid deadlines organized.
  • Check out university information on their web sites.
