New college & career resources for Idaho students and their parents
More resources for Idaho parents and students are now available on Idaho’s Career Information System (CIS) web site. New this year in CIS is a section for college-bound students and their parents.
- TEENS will find articles on reasons for going to college, how college differs from high school, campus visits, what to take to college, and a planning checklist.
- PARENTS will find information on helping children prepare for college, how to save for an education, helpful facts about college life, links to great web sites, and much more.
- Also, look for links to sites that help prepare special-needs students for college, the transition to campus life, and strategies for success in school and beyond.
You’ll see lots of other changes to CIS, too, including:
- Mini occupation descriptions
- New and fast-growing occupations
- Interactive Reality Check, matching occupations and income to spending choices
Plus, more and better graphics, including over 20 different options to customize “My CIS Portfolio.”
Most Idaho high schools, and many junior high and middle schools, rely on CIS for career and post-high school planning information. Check with your school to obtain a login for CIS at www.idahocis.org or visit www.cis.idaho.gov for more information.
