Grants
Welcome to the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation's grant information. This page provides information for grantseekers and those interested in learning more about the Foundation's grant making.
General Grant Information:
In order to use Foundation resources effectively, as well as to save educational and community organizations from wasting time and effort applying for a limited number of partnerships and grants, the Foundation provides the following information:
- The Foundation does not accept unsolicited grants requests
- The Foundation does not grant to individuals
- Proposals are reviewed on an invitational basis only
- The Foundation primarily supports organizations/programs that operate within Idaho
- The Foundation only grants to 501(c)(3) or other tax exempt organizations
The programs, funding and policy decisions of the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation are the responsibility of its Board of Directors.
Organizations that receive grants from the Foundation are required to provide detailed reports on the use of grant funds and their programmatic results. The Foundation's staff conducts periodic evaluations of grants and programs, as well as site visits with grantee organizations. Evaluations of grantee reports become factors for future Foundation grantmaking.
Community Grants:
In the area of community giving, the Foundation supports organizations and programs that help people to help themselves, have a proven track record of success, have a broad base of funders and local support, and spend a low percentage of their budget on administrative and fundraising expenses.

Education Grants:
Currently, the Foundation's main educational focus is, increasing access in the Treasure Valley to affordable, high quality, comprehensive community college education. In May, 2007, citizens of Idaho's Treasure Valley voted to establish a community college taxing district, and progress is being made to open the doors of the College of Western Idaho.
The Foundation has also made a commitment to provide parents of Idaho school children with information and resources to help them be informed, active participants in their children's education. To this end, each year, the Idaho Parent Resource, now in its fifth edition, contains tips, tools, and information geared to the needs of Idaho families and their students.
The Foundation also contributes to a number of charitable organizations.
